{YAY} Fairview Manor accepts Yarn Twisting Machine (Beware!)

The largest painting I've ever created - two panels/eight feet wide by five feet tall - Yarn Twisting Machine (Beware!) was offered and accepted by Almonte's Fairview Manor, Art in the Manor (AIM) program! I'm so pleased! The Manor is a great place for a bit of re-imagined local Almonte mill history. The painting is bright, meaningful, and the folks at AIM hung the painting in the Old Mill Wing so it's at home and, I hope, enjoyed.

Building Peace: a group art exhibition presented by The Diefenbunker Museum and One World Dialogue
Building Peace runs from Sept 14, 2013 to Jan 31, 2014

Building Peace runs from Sept 14, 2013 to Jan 31, 2014

I am so pleased to have my painting, No More War of the Worlds, included in Building Peacean art exhibition exploring different perspectives on building peace in our past, present and with a look to our future.

When I see an adult on a bicycle, I do not despair for the future of the human race – H.G. Wells

Presented by the Diefenbunker Museum and One World Dialogue (OWD), Building Peace  runs from September 14, 2013 to January 31, 2014.

Building Peace launches with a presentation and reception in celebration of International Peace Day on Saturday, Sept. 14, 2013, from 2 - 4 PM at the Bank of Canada Vault, 100 Level of the Diefenbunker, 3911 Carp Road, Carp, Ontario.  All are welcome, the event is free.

Bicycling, building community and peace are linked:

Toleration is the greatest gift of the mind; it requires the same effort that it takes to balance oneself on a bicycle – Helen Keller

BIKE FOR PEACE, a photography project, shares community actions for peace in 15 countries along the Pan American Highway.

Toronto's International, Bikes Without Borders is a federally registered Canadian nonprofit organization using bikes and bike-related solutions as a tool for development in marginalized communities.

Concerned men cycling for peace and community is a group that cycles to encourage peace and discourage violence in an annual event in Boston.

Cities, it occurred to me, are physical manifestations of our deepest beliefs and our often unconscious thoughts, not so much as individuals, but as the social animals we are. Riding a bike through a city is like navigating the collective neural pathways of some vast global mind – author/artist/musician David Byrne
